One of my favorite things is creating emotional connections and enlightenment through enduring themes in my writing, and I find personal fulfillment in uplifting and advocating for those facing hardships--particularly the invisible ones. With the occasional hint of humor, my work seeks to help people consider their potential and recognize the love and beauty always present in their lives.

Hands and Gestures - Heart Hand Shake

Hi,

As a young lady from a small town, I had plans of publishing from a corner office in New York City’s Chrysler Building, becoming a monster truck driver, and greeting excited children as a princess at Disneyland. Since then, I received a degree in advertising and interpersonal communication and have worked professionally as a copywriter, a technical writer, a project coordinator, and in public relations.

I was unexpectedly diagnosed with bipolar disorder shortly after the birth of our first child who came following years of infertility, to my sweetheart, Greg, and me. I am gratefully thrilled to be the mother of two daughters and two sons. I have a deep empathy for those facing unseen struggles as one of our daughters has autism, one of our sons was born six weeks early and has a heart condition, and one of daughters has very real and severe phobias.

While my mental health is well-managed now with medication, therapy, and a variety of coping skills, I know what it’s like to lose hope. Having lived with bipolar disorder for more than a decade, and through a couple of scary bouts with postpartum psychosis, I know from my experiences in the psychiatric unit that finding hope through new insight is the key to unlocking the door out of the darkness.

Even with my best efforts, I still experience typically mild symptoms--just enough to remind me it's important to keep those lifestyle efforts going.

I also juggle a recent diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, and still have more hopes and dreams than I have time for.
